The baffle plate in the Hi-Flame Alpha 2 stove sits above the firebox as a throat plate, slowing the passage of combustion gases through the chamber to extract more heat before they exit up the flue. It is subject to sustained high temperatures and warps or cracks over time, reducing efficiency. This heavier cast iron replacement is made specifically for the Alpha 2's larger firebox.
