Blacksmith Anvil Rear Fire Brick Set

The rear fire brick set for the Blacksmith Anvil replaces the back lining of the firebox. The rear brick takes the most direct heat from the fire and is typically the first to crack or break down in service. Replacing just the rear set is practical when the side bricks are still in good condition and only the back lining shows damage.

The rear of the firebox is the hottest zone during a burn, so the back bricks wear faster than the sides. Inspect them regularly for cracks that run through the full depth of the brick, which indicates the brick is no longer providing adequate protection. Surface craze cracking is normal and does not require immediate replacement.
