The baffle plate for the Blacksmith Artisan Boiler stove sits above the fire and slows the flow of hot gases before they reach the flue. Also called a throat plate, it forces heat to circulate longer inside the firebox, improving combustion efficiency and transferring more warmth to the boiler circuit. Cast iron baffles crack over time and should be replaced when visibly damaged.
