The baffle plate for the Blacksmith Harness stove sits above the firebox and deflects hot combustion gases back into the burn chamber before they reach the flue. This extends the time heat spends inside the stove, improving secondary combustion and reducing emissions. Cast iron baffles are consumable parts that should be inspected each season and replaced when cracked or significantly warped.
