The baffle plate for the Hi-Flame Graphite Inset fits across the top of the firebox to restrict flue gas flow and direct heat back into the combustion chamber. Inset stoves are particularly reliant on a functioning baffle to compensate for their built-in position and extract maximum warmth from each fuel load. A cracked or warped baffle is worth replacing promptly, as the drop in efficiency is significant.

The baffle slows the passage of hot gases through the stove, giving them more time to transfer heat to the firebox walls before escaping up the flue. Without it, the stove operates less efficiently and produces more smoke. This is a direct replacement for the original Graphite Inset baffle.
