The door rope seal on the Henley Blasket creates an airtight join between the door and the stove body, preventing uncontrolled air from entering the firebox. When the rope flattens or deteriorates, the stove loses the ability to regulate combustion properly, which can lead to overfiring and smoke escaping into the room.
