The grate frame for the Hi-Flame Graphite 8 forms the structural base that holds the fuel bed in the firebox and allows ash to fall through to the ashpan below. Cast iron grate frames are built to withstand continuous high-temperature cycling, but prolonged use causes them to thin and eventually crack. Replacing a worn grate frame restores correct airflow beneath the fire and prevents fuel from dropping into the ash compartment.

The grate frame controls the airflow that feeds combustion from below. A cracked or broken frame allows too much air in unevenly, which reduces burn control and can cause hot spots. This replacement is cast to the original Graphite 8 dimensions for a direct fit.
