The fire fence for the Horse Flame Artemis is a cast iron component that sits across the front of the firebox, containing the fuel bed and directing airflow through the combustion chamber. It takes constant heat and mechanical stress from loading fuel, so replacement is straightforward maintenance on older stoves. Note that Horse Flame stoves are discontinued but parts remain available.

The fire fence on the Artemis controls how air enters the fuel bed from the front. A warped or cracked fence disrupts this airflow, leading to poor combustion and reduced heat output. This cast iron replacement restores correct airflow geometry and gives the stove consistent burn performance.
