This is the rear fire brick set for the Horse Flame Elessar stove. The rear bricks line the back of the firebox and take the most direct heat from the fire. They are typically the first bricks to crack or crumble, and replacing them promptly prevents heat damage to the stove's back panel.

The rear bricks absorb and redistribute radiant heat, protecting the steel back panel from warping. They also reflect heat forward into the room, which improves efficiency. Replace them when cracks have penetrated more than halfway through the brick or when sections have broken away entirely.
