    The cast iron baffle (also known as a throat plate or deflector) helps trap heat and promote secondary burn, while the insulating fire bricks protect the firebox walls from damage caused by extreme temperatures. Replacing both components together ensures your stove burns hotter, cleaner, and more safely.
