The fire fence is the cast iron bar that sits across the front of the grate on the Olymberyl Aidan, preventing logs from rolling forward when the door is opened to add fuel. Over time the bar can crack under repeated thermal cycling or be damaged during ash removal. The manufacturer part reference for this component is HFB443-8.
