Olymberyl Baby Gabriel Baffle Plate

The baffle plate for the Olymberyl Baby Gabriel is a cast iron throat plate that sits above the firebox. It slows the exit of combustion gases, trapping heat inside the stove and improving efficiency. The Baby Gabriel is a compact version of the original Gabriel stove, also sold under the Hi-Flame name as the HF217. Replace the baffle if it is cracked or has developed holes that allow hot gases to bypass it.

Remove the fire fence and lift the baffle plate upward from inside the firebox to extract it. Check the plate every few months for soot build-up on the upper surface, as heavy deposits reduce draw and heat output even when the plate is structurally sound.
