The back plate is a cast iron panel that lines the rear wall of the firebox on the Hi-Flame Precision II stove. It protects the steel body of the stove from direct flame contact and reflects heat back into the combustion chamber. Over time, cast iron can crack under thermal cycling and the plate will need replacing to keep the stove body protected.
