The back plate on the Hi-Flame Precision III (HF910) is a cast iron rear liner that provides structural heat resistance at the back of the firebox. It protects the stove body from direct flame contact and contributes to overall heat retention. Replace it if it develops cracks that expose the back wall to sustained flame.
