The grate frame (also known as an inner riddling grate or centre grate) for the Hi-Flame Precision Inset is a cast iron component that supports the fuel bed and allows ash to fall through into the ash pan below. It is fitted with a riddling mechanism that lets you shake ash through the bars without opening the door. Replace when bars are burned through or the riddling mechanism no longer works smoothly.

A worn grate frame with broken bars allows fuel to fall through before it has fully combusted, wasting fuel and cooling the firebox. A solid, correctly functioning grate holds the fuel bed at the right height for efficient combustion and makes ash management much easier.
